Green and Portable: Unique Restroom Preserves the Environment Flush by Flush
It’s not a glamour business. But Tim Haszard is flush by flush helping beautify the environment with a portable restroom.
Haszard realizes it may sound like an oxymoron—toilets and prettying anything.
With water conservation in mind, his company, St. Augustine, Fla.-based Executive Restroom Trailers (EXRT), offers upscale portable restroom facilities specially designed to use very little water, unlike similar look-alike trailers.
“Our trailers use only 90 gallons of water to provide 6000 flushes,” says Haszard. “Other water flush toilet trailers use over 9000 gallons of water for the same number of flushes, in addition, this requires large amounts of wastewater to be hauled to and treated at the municipal wastewater treatment plant.”
During a one day special event Haszard’s trailers need not be emptied until the event is over while the competition’s trailers need emptying throughout the event.
Haszard says even in cities with water restrictions, this executive bathroom poses no issue.
Using self-closing low volume faucets, a reduced pressure fresh water system along with a toilet re-circulating system, he has managed to maximize water conservation with each use.
“Our facilities preserve your personal dignity and preserve the environment,” says Haszard. “We’re proud to be able to say that.”
